Abstract

AbstractThe cover picture related to the article by H. Sasakura on p. 837 ff. shows the Overhauser shift (OHS) of exciton complexes from two quantum dots (QDs) as a function of the degree of circular polarization of the excitation light. Applying an external magnetic field Bz = 5 T, the difference of the OHS between the two groups stands out; the abrupt change of the OHS disappears for the blue group, while the red group still shows an asymmetric OHS. The critical value of Bz for the abrupt change is sensitive to the QD properties. Therefore, the authors demonstrate that the implementation of nanoscale magnetic fields in semiconductor quantum dots can be achieved by optical pumping of nuclear spins (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
