Macak on p. 181 ff. reports on key factors that infl uence the degree of order in anodic TiO2 nanotube layers. The authors show that the anodization voltage and the Ti purity are of crucial importance for the ideality of self-organization within the nanotube layers and that repeated anodization can significantly improve hexagonal ordering. This is illustrated by a collage of scanning electron microscopy images of hexagonally packed titania nanotubes grown on Ti substrate, showing almost perfectly self-ordered patterns.
