Abstract

Mol. Nutr. Food Res. 2022, 66, 202200298 DOI: 10.1002/mnfr.202200298 The usage of non-nutrition sweeteners (NNS) is rapidly increasing in the food industry, with Acesulfame Potassium (Ace K) as the most prevalently consumed NNS in soft drinks. Exposure to Ace K increases the preterm risk, cytokine secretion and uterine hypercontraction through the modulation of calcium influx and alters MLCK/MLC20 contraction related protein expression through c-Jun N-terminal kinase signaling transduction. This is reported by Yang-Ching Chen, Shih-Min Hsia, and co-workers in article number 2200298.
