Abstract
Solution polymer mechanochemistry is well understood in random coil morphology. In their Research Article (e202115325), Charles E. Diesendruck and Hang Zhang assess covalent mechanochemistry when α-helices are present in covalent macromolecules. Poly(γ-benzyl glutamate)s (PBG) with different helicities are prepared by tuning the enantiomeric excess of the feed monomer. Ultrasonication is used to induce solvodynamic shear, leading to the scission of the polymer into smaller helices.
