Abstract

Thuricide HPWP® ( Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner) successfully controlled the grape berry moth, Paralobesia viteana (Clemens), on wine grapes and also was effective against the grape leaffolder, Desmia funeralis (Hubner) and had no adverse effect on insect predator populations in the vineyard. Although 3 generations of the grape berry moth occurred during the season, the first was of very low density; therefore, control efforts were directed towards the latter 2 damaging generations. Accurate monitoring of developing pest populations and timely applications of Thuricide were essential in attaining effective insect management.
