Abstract

Significantly longer life times than usual rhodium catalyst precursors are displayed by complexes such as the tetranuclear rhodium complex 1. Complexes of this type are active hydroboration catalysts (TOF<30 000 h−1). Interestingly, the metal center can be reversibly inserted into the three-membered heterocycle of the polycyclic phosphirane ligand. L=MeCN.
