Abstract
As the author states in the Preface, this book to serve the needs of new students in the computer sciences, whether in college, junior college, technical institute, or high school. Since many books already exist to serve these needs, the very obvious question of what is the rationale for writing still another book must be answered. The author, in anticipating this question, puts forth the following rationale in the Preface.
