Abstract

The 5-axis control machines are machine tools which have three (3) linear axes and two (2) rotary axes. They are used for machining the value added products with a complicated posture with superior characteristics in strength, anticorrosion and anti-heat features. For the NC Milling Head of a 5-axis control machine, high-speed and highly accurate positioning for the main spindle are required due to the trend of increasing speed of linear axes. Tsudakoma created the structure which enabled displacement-free positioning of the edge of a tool blade in case of A-axis clamping, and it developed the NC Milling Head of high speed, smooth movement and superior control characteristics. The NC Milling Head employs a direct drive motor which has highly accurate contouring control because of its backlash-free feature.
