Abstract
We present B-spline R-matrix with pseudo-states results for electron impact ionization and ionization-excitation of He. Using a highly correlated ground state drops the theoretical predictions by nearly 10% compared to calculations performed in a frozen-core model with only the He+ (1s) state. Excellent agreement is obtained with the most recent experimental data.
