Abstract

Structural, magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of perovskite manganite La0.55Pr0.1Sr0.35Mn1-xTixO3 (LPSMTxO, x = 0; 0.05) synthetized by sol–gel method have been studied. X-ray diffraction studies have shown that all samples have been crystallized in rhombohedral symmetry withR3¯c space group. The magnetic study revealed that the samples have exhibited a ferromagnetic (FM) – paramagnetic (PM) phase with decreasing Curie temperature (TC) from 310 K to 288 K when Ti doping level increases. At μ0H = 3T, the maximum value of the magnetic entropy change (−ΔSMmax)varies from 3.58 J/kg.K to 2.78J/kg.K for x = 0.00 and 0.05 respectively. Besides, by performing the Landau theory, the deviation between experimental and theoretical calculations have indicated the noncontributing of elastic, magnetoelastic and magnetoelectronic coupling in the magnetocaloric properties of La0.55Pr0.1Sr0.35Mn1-xTixO3. Accordingly, important results of the relative cooling power (RCP) for the two investigated compounds were obtained proving that they can be suggested as good candidates for magnetic refrigeration technology.
