Abstract

Current transformers (CTs) of the bus bar type are widely used in ultrahigh voltage power systems for monitoring and protection. This paper presents a mathematical model to predict the measured current error caused by tilting and position eccentricity of the primary conductor of a bus bar in a CT. The model is based on actual B–H curve characteristics and is verified by comparing the model predicted results to corresponding 2-D and 3-D transient finite-element model results.
