Abstract
In order to follow the fate of intraocularly injected labelled gangliosides in the optic tract of birds purified (3H-sph)-GDla or (3H-sph)-GMl were monocularly injected into the right eye of two weeks old chicken (White Leghorn). After 1,4,8 and 14 days of incorporation structures of the injected and non-injected (control) optic system (retinae, optic nerves, chiasm, optic lobes) as well as of cerebrum, blood, liver, kidney and skeletal muscle were analyzed with respect to total non-volatile radioactivity and that bound to lower phase lipids and gangliosides.
