Abstract

For a slowly rotating cylindrical container filled with an incompressible and viscous liquid the axisymmetric damped natural frequencies are obtained for a slipping and an anchored contact line of the equilibrium free liquid surface at the container wall. It was found that there exists in contrast to frictionless liquid a range where only aperiodic motion of the liquid is possible. The influence of an increase of the speed of spin was found to be an increase of the oscillation frequency at nearly constant decay magnitude.
