Abstract

A contact problem of a bolt-shaped rigid punch pressed into an elastic half-space with a transverse circular cylindrical hole is analyzed. The mixed boundary-value problem results in a set of dual integral equations involving Bessel functions of the first and the second kind which is reduced to a singular Fredholm integral equation of the first kind with a symmetric kernel. This equation is solved numerically and results for stresses and displacements are presented in graphical form.
