Abstract

Although the axillary lymph nodes are a frequent site of regional metastatic disease from breast carcinoma, such metastasis from squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the head and neck region is an uncommon event. Recognition of this phenomenon is crucial in evaluation of patients with head and neck cancer, especially in patients with massive metastatic or delayed metastasis at low level of the neck. Early recognition and timely salvage surgery of axillary metastases after exclusion of other distant metastasis may improve the survival of patients.
