Abstract

This paper treats the dynamic behavior of infinitely long thick cylindrical shells surrounded by water. The shell is excited by axially symmetric forces. The solution is formed by coupling the three-dimensional elastic solution with the expression for the fluid pressure in cylindrical coordinates. Curves are presented which give the forced vibration amplitude and acoustic pressure in the water as a function of frequency for various modes of vibration of the cylinder.
