Abstract
Multiple scattering of channeled, positive particles may be described by a diffusion-like equation [1–3] with a diffusion function D(E⊥) which varies strongly with transverse energy. At low transverse energy, the main contribution comes from scattering by electrons, whereas at high transverse energy, D(E⊥) is dominated by force fluctuations due to thermal vibrations.
