Abstract

The occurrence of a well defined Barkhausen jump for a certain value of the reverse applied magnetic field is observed in Fe-rich glass-coated microwires along the axial and transverse directions, even for sample lengths of the order of 0.5 cm. Such behavior and its dependence on sample dimensions are interpreted as a counterbalance between the intrinsic magnetoelastic and demagnetization energies.
