Abstract

Having recently published an article in AWWA Water Science, John Chadwick answered a few questions from its editor-in-chief Kenneth L. Mercer about the research. Printed with permission Success is the sum of small efforts, Repeated day in and day out, With never a thought of frustration, With never a moment of doubt. Whatever your cherished ambition, Begin now to make it come true, Through efforts, repeated, untiring, Plus faith in the thing that you do. These words remind me that things of value and worth are not easy to come by. A vision of what we want to accomplish, goals to reach that vision, and a plan to meet those goals are needed to be successful. Along the way, our influence will affect others. The mentor that guided me to civil engineering taught me how our influence is like a drop of water. When it falls into a pond, it is small; but as it grows, its effect becomes far-reaching. We don't always know how our good actions will influence others. John enjoys a leisurely ride in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Source: John Chadwick. Printed with permission Metering technology must improve to keep up with other technological improvements in municipal infrastructure. This is especially important as water scarcity becomes a bigger issue (especially in places like where I live, the Intermountain West). Knowing how to manage water as populations increase will become an increasingly complex issue.
