Abstract

Remote medical care services based on IT are becoming increasingly present in health systems and will play a fundamental role in the future to address the lack of human and material resources, and to cope with the significant increase in demand for healthcare, especially from the elderly. In this paper we present the architecture of a remote and real-time medical monitoring system, based on cloud computing and IoT. We show through a benchmarking study covering the aspects of performance, functionality and cost that cloud computing services from Amazon (AWS) are the most appropriate for this application amount other considered cloud providers. All items necessary for the implementation of the solution have been designated and their role in the system has been well explained.
