Abstract

Background Chronic hepatitis B is a significant health problem affecting the Roma population in Bulgaria: In 2010, incidence of hepatitis B among Roma was 5.14 per 100,000 (newly registered cases), which is about six times higher than the EU average (0.87 per 100,000) and also higher than the incidence among non-Roma in Bulgaria (4.68 per 100 000).
