Abstract
Nowadays you can see more people running outside in the streets and city parks. Most of them consider jogging as a way for their health promotion, though some people practise to take part in sport events. Each person, who practise athletics, without taking into account a sports qualification level, should have specific knowledge about the chosen sport. Every athlete of any level must have knowledge in the musculoskeletal system injury prevention. The purpose of the study was to reveal the awareness level of amateur runners for the musculoskeletal system injury prevention. Methods and organization of research: 110 amateur runners took part in the experiment. The research included a use of the author's survey with 15 close-ended questions. Results. It is confirmed that 79 % of amateur runners of the survey have a low awareness level of the musculoskeletal system injury prevention or there is no awareness at all. Only 21 % of the survey participants have a moderate or a high awareness level of the musculoskeletal system injury prevention. It is revealed that most of amateur runners do not have any knowledge concerning ways and methods of sport injury prevention.
