Awards presented at the Spring Annual Meeting: Fifteenth Presentation James B. Macelwane Award to John S. Lewis in Recognition of Significant Contributions to the Geophysical Sciences by a Young Scientist of Outstanding Ability

Abstract

Probably one of the very smallest subdisciplines in the space and geosciences, in terms of the number of its practitioners, is theoretical cosmochemistry. Yet it has one of the largest impacts upon all of the other subdisciplines. A particularly effective wielder of the tools of this subdiscipline is John S. Lewis, who is richly deserving of the James B. Macelwane Award. Not too long ago he expressed the opinion to me that few people would understand the meaning of the term ‘theoretical cosmochemist.’ This citation presents an opportunity to enlarge that number.
