Abstract

The Early Career Awards, given for the first time in 1974, recognize the large number of excellent early career psychologists. Recipients of this award may not have held a doctoral degree for more than nine years. For her innovative research, the impact of her work, her ability to mentor young researchers at multiple stages of their career, and her engagement with communities outside the academic sphere. Eva H. Telzer's research has informed, translated, and transformed the field of developmental psychology on the complex interplay between the social context and the developing adolescent brain. She has made distinctive contributions that are shaping conversations in the field and pushing developmental psychology in new directions by incorporating a cultural lens in her work and focusing on opportunities and ways to promote adolescents as socially responsible and productive members of society.
