Abstract
Within the scope of globalization in the 21st century, it is becoming mandatory for each individual to learn one or more foreign languages and to be able to speak and write in these foreign languages. The European Common Language Criteria developed by the European Council, of which Turkey is also a member, and the practices of the European Language Portfolio can be seen in the field of foreign language training. The main issue of this study may be expressed in a single sentence as follows: What is the progress of the foreign language training in the primary and secondary level education in Turkey today as a result of the European Language Portfolio? The purpose of this study can be explained as follows: In this study, how the European Language Portfolio has effected study, the importance and contributions of the European Language Portfolio in terms of the foreign language education in Turkey is also mentioned.
