Abstract
Bone resorption associated with chin augmentation procedures is thought to be due to pressure on the bone exerted by the implanted materials. A technique minimizing such pressure is described, using multiple small, soft silicone rubber (Silastic) sponge implants, inserted extra-orally with minimum undermining immediately above the periosteum. Postoperative examinations have revealed no indications of bony changes in patients subjected to this technique.
