Abstract

Sublethal doses of CuSO 4 and ZnSO 4 were added singly and together to cores of sediment populated by Tubifex tubifex and Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri. All metal treatments significantly increased movement of worms from the treated cores to surrounding uncontaminated sediment. The effect of CuSO 4 and ZnSO 4 added together was not significantly greater than that of either metal added singly. The two species differed only in their response to the ZnSO 4 treatment.
