Abstract

Objective: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WR MSDs) have been reported for several hundred years; those related to ultrasound scanning have been reported at least anecdotally for around 20 years. These disorders have more recently been much in focus, with a proliferation of papers, study days, and reports. The authors here explore the risk factors for sonographers in more detail and attempt to provide more concrete guidance on how to avoid musculo-skeletal strain during scanning.
