Abstract
In this brief paper I will try to show how ethological approaches can be part of an approach to understanding some disturbed behavior in early childhood. I also shall suggest that there might be more useful ways of classifying children's disturbed behavior using these approaches (rather than the present psychiatric categories) which would improve interventions.
