Abstract

This paper describes the developmental approach towards the integration of various airborne sensors and systems through a MIL-STD 1553B data bus. The concept essentially caters for integration of subsystems developed by different agencies as per specifications laid down by the integrating agency. Each subsystem was simulated on individual PC-486 and networked through the MIL-STD 1553B data bus. System integration software was designed, and implemented on the integration setup for validation. Salient features of the system integration software and the simulation setup with simulators for various subsystems are described. The bus controller architecture for such a system integration approach, and results of bus loading analysis are presented.
