Abstract
Simulation tools are intended to aid planners make informed decisions. Discussed are both the role of simulation and the types of simulation tools available and used today in aviation planning. The paper focuses on SIMMOD, an airport and airspace capacity and delay model, produced and validated by the Federal Aviation Administration. Several SIMMOD applications are described in detail.
