Abstract
Haemoproteus caprimulgi sp. nov. is described from the common nighthawk, Chordeiles minor (Forster), from Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This represents the first specific taxonomic designation of a haemoproteid from the family Caprimulgidae. The haemoproteids of the Caprimulgids are reviewed, and hosts and geographic distributions are summarized.
