Abstract

Homopolar inductor alternator (HIA) has the advantages of high energy storage density, high reliability, and high rotor strength, and is widely used in inertial energy storage capacitor charging power supply (CCPS). For the pulse alternator capacitor charging system, it is very important to study the charging transient process and explore the influence of various parameters on the charging performance. The current research method is difficult to take the simulation speed and simulation accuracy into account. In this paper, an average-value model modeling method for alternator rectifier systems with large capacitive loads is proposed. After that the HIA-CCPS platform is developed and experiments are carried out. The experimental results are basically consistent with the simulation results of the average-value model, which verifies the accuracy of the average-value model. Finally, the relationship between the average-value model and the VBR (voltage-behind-reactance) model is discussed.
