Abstract

Output characteristics of an externally-heated barium laser are presented. Factors affecting the average-power scaling of barium lasers have been identified through burst-mode studies, the results of which are pertinent to the design of practical, high-repetition-rate devices. Excitation processes relating to particular laser transitions are discussed.
