Abstract

The objective is to investigate the average stress-strain behaviour of structural components of a box girder in the progressive collapse method, PCM. Two types of structural components are studied, stiffened plates and hard corners as a part of a box girder. The bending moment-curvature relationship of the box girder, identified by the PCM, using the FEM developed average stress-strain curves of the stiffened plates, and hard corners compared with the non-linear finite element solution. Several conclusions derived from the present analysis are finally presented.
