Abstract

An average resonance capture study of $^{126}\mathrm{Te}$ was carried out with 2- and 24-keV neutron beams. The experiments provide a complete set of ${0}^{+}$, ${1}^{+}$, and ${2}^{+}$ levels and are in agreement with previous data. The completeness of these levels of $^{126}\mathrm{Te}$, along with an earlier study of $^{124}\mathrm{Te}$, permits a discussion of the structure of the Te isotopes in terms of U(5) and O(6) symmetries, and an investigation of the possible presence of intruder configurations.
