Green is Professor (directrice d’études) of History at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She received her doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1980 and a doctorat d’état from the Université de Paris VII in 1996. A specialist in migration history, comparative methods, and French and American social history, she has most recently published The Other Americans in Paris: Businessmen, Countesses, Wayward Youth, 1880–1941 (University of Chicago Press, 2014) and A Century of Transnationalism: Immigrants and their Homeland Connections, co-edited with Roger Waldinger (University of Illinois Press, 2016).
