Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the perception of quality of life and to verify the relation between Physical Fitness and Body Composition of students from a public school in the North of Brazil. Method: it was a cross-sectional study with 26 students of both sexes between 9 and 11 years old, enrolled and attending the classes. The variables studied were physical fitness, quality of life and body composition. The research was approved by the Committee for Ethics in Research. The variables were analyzed by the Pearson correlation test through the SPSS 20.1 system. Results and discussion: regarding body composition, 34,6% are above the ideal in relation to fat percentage, and 11,5% are classified as obese according to the Body Mass Index. Conclusion: the quality of life presented a good classification, being the family factor the highest average of the evaluated factors and autonomy the lower average. Regarding physical fitness, the flexibility test presented the best result, but the abdominal resistance test obtained the worst index. There was a negative correlation between physical fitness and body composition, while the quality of life did not present correlation. There was a negative correlation between the variables of physical fitness and body composition.
