Abstract

In the face of significant changes on the national scene for the implementation of the Unified Health System (SUS), the National Curricular Guidelines (DCN) in health are designed as a strategy for the training institutions subsidize vocational training consistent with the reality and heath demands of the population. This study aimed to identify the academic opinion about the skills and general skills defined by DCN of undergraduate courses in the health area of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys (UFVJM). The chosen design was the transversal, with a population consisting of 135 students from the last term of undergraduate courses in Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Nutrition and Dentistry. 62 responses were obtained, resulting in a return rate of 45.92 questionnaires. The course of Nutrition showed the highest level of participation 66.7% (n=8), followed by Nursing course 48.4% (n=15), Pharmacy and Physical Therapy 48.1% (n=13) and finally, Dentistry 34.2% (n=13). The sample showed significant statistical differences between the courses only in Leadership variables at work in multidisciplinary and Leadership team. In all courses , Attention to Health and decision making had the highest rates for both what was expected to be taught as to what was taught. Noteworthy is that the skills and general skills Administration and Management and Communication predominantly showed the worst rates in the teaching perspective in these courses. The results showed the need to reflect and rearrange the profile of health professional’s training, especially regarding management skills.
