Abstract
Application of information and communication technology (ICT) in libraries has become inevitable in an era of information explosion and widespread use of digital information resources. Effective application of ICT in libraries helps in performing their operations and services most efficiently. Application of ICT in libraries of nursing college libraries affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science has increased in the recent years. But the automation work of nursing college libraries is very slow due to certain problems. This study investigates the status of 42 automation nursing college libraries, current state of the art ICT infrastructure and the extent of use of electronic information resources and problems faced by the librarians in implementing the ICT in nursing college libraries affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore. It also makes an attempt to provide suggestions and strategies for improving ICT facilities and library automation in college libraries.
