Abstract
Abstract The types and uses of “whole body counters” are discussed. Of the three types, the crystal scintillator is favored over the liquid or plastic scintillators. Crystal scintillators are used more for measurement of fallout and for industrial purposes than for clinical purposes. Most “whole body counters” are used for some purposes of public health and industrial hygiene. An appendix lists organizations in the U. S. having “whole body counters.”
