Abstract
The scope of this paper is to have an alternative to the use of an explicit plastic potential in elastoplastic models for soils. This is possible through the definition of a stress–dilatancy relationship and a simple expression for an auxiliary surface in lieu of a given expression of the plastic potential surface. This approach results in a flexible definition of the model and to very simple expressions of the auxiliary plastic potential derivatives.
