Abstract

Audio/video sensor networks can provide rich multimedia information, which doubtlessly benefits a plethora of data hungry applications such as environment monitoring, health care, emergency response, and video security. In this paper, we propose an Audio/Video sensor networks middleware AuViM to satisfy user's various QoS requirements flexibly. The components of AuViM can be flexibly deployed on each type of node. Moreover, we describe two kinds of basic working modes - location-centric one and interested data-centric one. In particular, the QoS tree is introduced to help users to customize individual QoS requirements. Finally, we describe a typical application case to show that our AuViM can not only flexibly meet user's QoS requirements, but also support the realization of audio/video sensor networks applications effectively.
