Abstract

The use of transmission line with four circuits on one tower is one way that can be used to minimize the right of way (ROW) issues. There is no study that have discussed the performance of single pole auto-reclose (SPAR) for this type of transmission line, thus it is necessary to study the effect of using this transmission line to SPAR performance, especially study related to the duration of secondary arc. In this paper, the SPAR performance evaluation is performed by varying the fault location on phase, circuit, and transmission line length using transient analysis application. Each of scenario is simulated on phase arrangement which have the lowest and the highest electromagnetic field magnitude. Based on the simulation results, it is known that the use of phase arrangement with the lowest electromagnetic field magnitude will eliminate the probability of SPAR scheme failure for each single phase to ground fault location on this transmission line configuration.
