Abstract

A procedure was developed for autoradiographic study of mollusk shell sections with the aim to examine the distribution of α-emitters accumulated in the shells. The basic parameters (exposure time, braking filter thickness, etc.) required for obtaining informative autoradiograms of sections of 241Am-containing shells of Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas) fresh-water mollusk were obtained experimentally from analysis of ∼60 autoradiograms. The microscopic and spark methods of analyzing images on LR-115-II film were used.
