Abstract
Background: The practice of hospital autopsy has declined rapidly worldwide over the last 50 years. Current hospital autopsy rates in Australia are approaching zero for adult autopsies. Despite this, substantial discrepancies between autopsy findings and clinical diagnoses persist.
