Autopsy rates and discrepancies between autopsy findings and clinical diagnoses – An audit of the nambour general hospital mortuary 2006–2015

Abstract

Background: The practice of hospital autopsy has declined rapidly worldwide over the last 50 years. Current hospital autopsy rates in Australia are approaching zero for adult autopsies. Despite this, substantial discrepancies between autopsy findings and clinical diagnoses persist.
