Abstract
Piezoelectric quartz tuning forks (QTF) were used for viscosity and density measurements. Compact autonomous system, based on the modulated excitation signal technique, providing the QTF excitation, measurement of the ring-down oscillations and signal processing was built and calibrated. It was used for in situ determination of the antibiotic activity od ciprofloxacin on the biofilm formation in real time. The effect of the antibiotic concentration and the time at which it was introduced to the culture were shown.
