Autonomic neuropathy in the development and progression of vascular complications of diabetes mellitus

Conclusions

Diabetic autonomic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes, which leads toimpairment of the mechanisms of regulation at the level of the whole organism, and to the progression of vascular complications. It is proved that an important component contributing to the early development and rapid progression of cardiovascular diseases in diabetic patients, in addition to endothelial dysfunction, is vegetative disregulation. The “aging of regulatory systems” in patients with diabetes mellitus with cardiac autonomic neuropathy occurs 10 years earlier than the biological age of the patient and, earlier “switch on” the mechanisms of atherogenesis
