Abstract

The workload of an IVF laboratory can vary depending on the size and capacity of the facility and the number of ART cycles. Some of the common tasks and responsibilities of the IVF laboratory include, semen analysis, sperm preparation, oocyte retrieval, ICSI, embryo culture, transfer and freezing, and quality control and documentation. The workload can be demanding as each step requires careful attention, adherence to protocols, and coordination with other team members. Advances in technology have provided opportunities to automate some processes in the IVF laboratory that can greatly improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of processes, leading to improved outcomes. However, we should be mindful to maintain a balance between automation and the expertise of skilled embryologists.
