Abstract
During 1989, the Corporation of London Libraries embarked on an ambitious automation project. Although the project was initially called the Guildhall Automation Project (GAP for short), the project went wider than Guildhall Library, eventually encompassing all the libraries in the Corporation of London, and resulting in a single, networked library system, a union catalogue, and OPACs for public use.
